"The Dirty Soul Revival" Extended Play is Toms' first release since the self-titled LP came out in January. Taking a more traditional blues approach, Toms recorded the EP with minimal instrumentation and arrangement, resulting in a simplistic yet distinctive sound. Similar to 2010's LP, "Remember, our Roots", Toms has utilized the sounds acoustic guitar to give the music a more traditional blues feel. However, this EP was actually recorded in a full studio at the Audio Engineering School in San Francisco, as opposed to "Roots" which was recorded onto a Macbook in an empty classroom.

Toms' only recorded cover, Hendrix's "Little Wing", can be found on this EP. Also, a newer and cleaner version of the Toms standard "Lyric of Limmerence" can be heard on the EP.
